NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a petition challenging the Assam government's push-back policy aimed at tackling alleged infiltration from Bangladesh .
The plea was filed by the All BTC Minority Students Union , which alleged that the Assam government had launched a sweeping and indiscriminate campaign to detain and deport individuals suspected of being foreigners, even without Foreigners Tribunal declarations, nationality verification, or the completion of legal remedies.
The bench declined to intervene and directed the petitioner to approach the Gauhati high court for appropriate relief.
