Anthony Kim who's renowned for his casual and occasional frivolous social media presence, made headlines with his short and to-the-point reply to the post of a well-known golfer who is no longer active on the PGA Tour. A video was uploaded by the USGA in which Colt Knost 's US Amateur 2007 victory was the topic. Kim went ahead and wrote “Underrated summer” the second the video came out, yet here he was again trying to fool people with his words.
Knost’s Flashback to GloryThe video brought back memories of Knost’s superb play at the 2007 US Amateur, showing the highlights of his rounds, and the credits from the USGA saying that the win also placed him in the United States’ most prestigious amateur team, the walker cup, that year. Knost, who also clinched the 2005 Dixie Amateur title a couple of years before the US Amateur win, was visibly delighted to introduce the piece of golf history. His days as a professional which lasted for less than a year saw him at the 2020 WM Phoenix Open and the 2020 Sony Open but had missed the cut in both events.
Kim's Social Media AttitudeThe thing that made the golfer famous wasn’t even any of his games but the way he talked about everything honestly and unconventionally on social media. And even if his comments were only a little, they were still funny, very short but funny. The "Underrated summer" phrase suddenly got reactions from all sides, some agreeing with Kim himself, while others interpreting it as his way of acknowledging Knost’s extremely ignored amateur contributions.
Kim Steals the Limelight Again
While Knost went over his past championship victories, Anthony Kim also was much talked about recently thanks to his tournaments. Kim went to the Jakarta International Championship on the Asian Tour after the regular LIV Golf season. Despite being in the last few ranks along with a couple of other players, Kim managed to stay in for the weekend rounds and ended up with a decent score. Therefore, Kim is still a determined and focused fighter who is that far from other players' spotlights, but is still there.
The golf fans loved Knost's reflective storytelling, contrasting it to Kim's light-hearted answer. It is evident that the social media outlets like Instagram have given athletes a leeway to bond with their fans in a different style and also have them exhibit simple humorous pranks. With Kim, it was just an ordinary two-word comment and yet people began discussing it, thus the idea of shortness and subtle humor may again be of the biggest impact in this case.
The fans would be watching either Knost's amateur highlights or Kim's ongoing appearances, you can't miss realizing the interaction is a living proof of the golf course and off-course commonness of the players' characters.

Colt Knost arrived at the Olympic Club for the 2007 U.S. Amateur with his confidence at an all-time high as he tried to capture his second USGA championship in as many months and secure a spot on the U.S. Walker Cup Team.
