Raipur: The Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) will initiate action against those who have encroached upon the Sanjay Nagar Bakra Market in Raipur.

The civic body has also issued directives for cleaning of the Marble Line drain at Pachpedi Naka, which includes the removal of silt down to the base and the demolition of unauthorised platforms built over the drain, to ensure unobstructed flow.

The RMC has further instructed that any illegal platforms hindering the ongoing drain cleaning work across the capital should be immediately dismantled to facilitate smooth drainage before the monsoon season. A deadline of May 30 has been set for the completion of the entire drain cleaning operation.

These instructions were given by Raipur mayor Meenal Choubey and RMC commissioner Vishwadeep during their inspection of various drains in the city on Sunday as part of the pre-monsoon preparedness.

The Mayor and the commissioner assessed waterlogging-sensitive areas spanning Kushalpur Street No. 1 to 15 under Zone 5, the Marble Line drain in Zone 6, Dharam Nagar drain, Kushalpur drain and Chhuiya Talab in Zone 5, the drain situated behind the Indoor Stadium in Budhapara, and the Santoshi Nagar drain in Zone 6.
