Kota: A 40-year-old man who was hospitalised after accidentally ingesting a poisonous substance in his agricultural field Wednesday noon died during treatment early Thursday morning.
Police said the victim, Sikandar, a resident of Amba Ki Jhopadiyan in Anta police station area of Baran district, worked as a house construction labourer and owned a few acres of agricultural land in the village.
Police said a suicide case has been registered and a probe is on. While it was suggested that Sikandar had taken a loan for the registry of his house and was under stress due to his failure to pay the loan instalments, police said he was not under debt.
Sikandar's family members said he called his wife Wednesday morning to say he had accidentally ingested a poisonous substance in his field. His family members rushed him to MBS Hospital in Kota.
"The body was handed to the family after post-mortem was conducted. A probe is on," said Digvijay Singh, the circle inspector at Anta police station.
