Arlene Phillips has been flooded with support after posting an emotional statement about Ozzy Osbourne. As Halloween approaches, the former Strictly Come Dancing judge recalled that the spooky season reminds her of the 'King of Halloween', poignantly remembering that this will be the first time the annual event has taken place without him. The Black Sabbath frontman died earlier this year following a battle with Parkinson's and surgery pain aged 76. The singer died just two weeks after they reunited for their Back to the Beginning farewell show in their hometown of Birmingham, England. Taking to Instagram, Arlene posted an old photo of herself with Ozzy and his wife, Sharon Osbourne.
She penned: "Woke up feeling a little sad and couldn't think why, of course it's Halloween and I thought about the many Halloweens in my life I've spent with family and friends no longer here and I thought of the King of Halloween @ozzyosbourne no one represented it quite like him."
One of her followers typed: "Very true," as another also sent numerous heart emojis in a message to her.
Ozzy was later laid to rest by the lake on the grounds of his Buckinghamshire estate after a private funeral attended by family, close friends, and fellow rock musicians.
Among the attendees were his children, including 40-year-old Aimee Osbourne, who has maintained a low public profile in contrast to her siblings.
While Jack Osbourne, 39, and Kelly Osbourne, 40, rose to fame in the early 2000s through the hit MTV reality series The Osbournes, Aimee notably declined to take part.
Arlene was controversially replaced on the Strictly judging panel by Alesha Dixon in 2009, a move that sparked allegations of ageism and drew over 2,000 complaints from the public; however, she largely ignored the backlash.
The TV star revealed that she continues to watch Strictly in "bits and pieces" as she remains good friends with her former judging colleague Craig Revel Horwood and choreographer Jason Gilkison.
Arlene said to the i Paper: "(I watch Strictly) in bits and pieces on catch-up. It's rare I'd sit still on a Saturday night for a couple of hours but I'm also close to Jason Gilkison and I love watching the big dance number he's created."
