Prince William will be flying solo to Brazil next month for the 2025 Earthshot Prize. The Prince of Wales, who founded the Earthshot Prize in 2020, will no doubt be excited for the ceremony on November 5.
However, while William, 43, will be making the long flight within a matter of weeks, his wife Princess Kate will not accompany him. This is believed to be because The Princess of Wales will instead stay at the family's Windsor home with their children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven. As the event is during the school term, it is believed the couple like to make sure at least one of them is at home with the children to make sure they can do the school drop offs and pick ups, as well as general parenting duties.
This is an approach they have had in place for years, with Kate also not accompanying her husband to the Earthshot Prize in Cape Town, South Africa, last year.
It is believed her absence last year was also a result of the future Queen wanting to be at home with the children during term time - with their children's education being a priority.
Speaking last year about how his family would have loved to be with him for the event, the prince said: "I love Cape Town, I've had the most amazing week here, I've really enjoyed it. I don't want to go!
"My children would love to be here, so would Catherine."
The Prince of Wales founded Earthshot five years ago, with the prize aimed at rewarding projects and organisations that are taking vital and innovative steps to help protect the environment.
The winners of the prize receive investment money to help them bring their projects to life and to support their work.
It is believed William, like his father King Charles, feels passionately about protecting the environment.
Princess Kate last made an appearance at The Earthshot Prize in 2022 when it was held in Boston, Massachusetts.
