Prince Harry has reportedly sent a private message to the Royal Family following the death of the Duchess of Kent. The beloved royal passed away peacefully at her home in Kensington on Thursday evening. She was 92.
Harry, who now resides in California, is said to have sent a message to his relatives in the UK after learning of the royal's death. The contents of the message remain private as the message was sent privately.
After news broke on Friday, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a statement publicly. The couple took to social media, writing: "Our thoughts today are with The Duke of Kent and his family, particularly George, Helen and Nicholas.
"The Duchess worked tirelessly to help others and supported many causes, including through her love of music. She will be a much missed member of the family.".
The couple then signed the message off with their initials, "W [and] C".
The message, which shared the news, read: "It is with deep sorrow that Buckingham Palace announces the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent. Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully last night at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family.
"The King and Queen and all Members of The Royal Family join The Duke of Kent, his children and grandchildren in mourning their loss and remembering fondly The Duchess's life-long devotion to all the organisations with which she was associated, her passion for music and her empathy for young people."
This news comes just days before the royal is set to travel from the US to the UK to attend the WellChild Awards on September 8.
The Duchess of Kent's funeral is reportedly scheduled to take place next week, with Harry's attendance unknown. Harry's appearance at the awards ceremony on Monday will take place exactly three years after the late Queen Elizabeth II's death.
Meghan Markle is set to remain in the US with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, whilst Harry is in the UK.
