England fans have clashed on a number of Thomas Tuchel’s call-ups for the upcoming international break - with Jack Grealish and Jordan Henderson at the heart of the furore. The Three Lions announced their squad for the October internationals on Friday morning.
Tuchel’s side take on Wales in a friendly at Wembley Stadium in their first game of the break before travelling to Latvia for a World Cup qualifier. A number of expected names including Jordan Pickford, Declan Rice and Harry Kane, among others, have been included.
But there were a few surprising calls from Tuchel. Jack Grealish - who has found some excellent form with Everton - has been left out.
Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton was a notable omission in favour of the experience of Brentford's Jordan Henderson. And those calls have ignited fierce debate among supporters.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one fan said: “No Wharton but Jordan Henderson is in. Grealish having [a] great season but no call up? How does this make sense?”

A second fan added: “You have to wonder how someone whose job is to watch English footballers and pick the best ones can possibly not select Wharton and Grealish.”
Another England supporter asked: “So Grealish was the best player in the PL last month, and has created more chances than anyone else, but doesn’t warrant a place?,” while another responded: “Jordan Henderson in October 2025, Tommy Tuchel it’s time to go.”
While some have been complaining about Henderson’s inclusion, some have leapt to the ex-Liverpool captain’s defence, claiming that his form for Brentford this season justifies his inclusion.
One fan said: “Anyone complaining about Hendo give your head a wobble, been fantastic for Brentford and this young group needs leaders.”

Another added: “Pointless trying to reply to individuals as there's too many but they've clearly not been watching Henderson at Brentford yet seem to be enraged at his inclusion. Maybe had a reason to moan before but not with how good he's been playing this season for Brentford.”
Explaining his selections, England boss Tuchel said: “It’s only three weeks now since the last camp and the last win [against Serbia], the last performance. So the question was, why not bring the same group in?
“Because they set the standards and now it is about creating habits out of it. We have unfortunately two injuries at the moment, Tino (Livramento) and Noni (Madueke), and we bring of course Bukayo Saka to replace Noni and Jarell Quansah was a late call-up last time. He will stay in camp.”
