Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly criticised for 'patronising' comment to tearful Harry

Send Push

Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly snubbed Gladiators Harry as he gets emotional after his first performance. Harry took to the dancefloor for the first time alongside his professional partner Karen Hauer as they danced the Cha Cha Cha.

However, viewers think Tess could have been more sympathetic as Harry got emotional while talking to the host. He started to get choked as he reminisced about the difficult time he has had over the last year.

Fans took to social media to point out how Tess cut over Harry to mention the live musicians despite Harry tearing up. Tess thanked Dave Arch and his band despite Harry being mid-conversation.

Viewers took to X to talk about the awkward moment as one said: "Tess couldn’t have sounded less patronising if she tried but i have so much time for harry already #strictly."

While a second wrote: "Tess needs to go on an empathy awareness course #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing," with a third adding: "Oh Tess, you've got a man baring his soul to the nation, and you cut away to thank the band. She's chained to that autocue. #Strictly."

Harry and Karen managed to score 19 out of a possible 40 for their first dance. Strictly Come Dancing was thrown into chaos just this week after it was announced that Dani Dyer would no longer be able to take part in the show.

The former Love Island star took to her Instagram account to announced that she had fractured her ankle in training so she was advised by doctors to pull out of performing.

However, just days later bosses found a replacement in the shape of fellow Love Islander Amber Davies. Amber is no stranger to the dance world as she works on the West End as her full-time job.

She has gone on to pursue opportunities as an actor and made her West End debut as Judy Bernly in 9 to 5: The Musical at the Savoy Theatre back in 2019. She then took on the role of Lorraine Baines McFly in Back to the Future: The Musical at the Adelphi Theatre, and has been in touring productions of Bring It On: The Musical and Pretty Woman: The Musical.

Most recently she played Jordan Baker in the Great Gatsby musical, which had a limited run at the London Coliseum that concluded just weeks ago. She starred alongside the likes of Corbin Bleu and Rachel Tucker in the show.

Amber's next role will be Elle Woods in a touring production of the musical Legally Blonde. The iconic show will be going on tour across the UK and Ireland in 2026.
