There’s good news for Channel 5 viewers as the first instalment of Murder Before Evensong is set to air on Tuesday night with an impressive cast.
Based on the novel byI’m A Celeb fan-favourite Reverend Richard Coles, the six-part murder mystery is the first book in his popular series, the Canon Clement Mysteries.
The series is set to keep audiences captivated as they travel back into 1980s England, where the leading role of Canon Daniel Clement finds himself in the middle of a murder case in a quaint village.

A synopsis for the series reads: “Canon Daniel Clement shares Champton rectory with his widowed mother - opinionated, fearless, ever-so-slightly annoying Audrey – and his two dachshunds, Cosmo and Hilda.

“When Daniel announces a plan to install a lavatory in the church, the parish is suddenly (and unexpectedly) divided: as lines are drawn, long-buried secrets come dangerously close to destroying the apparent calm of the village.
“And then a body is found dead at the back of the church, stabbed in the neck with a pair of secateurs. As the police move in and the bodies start piling up, Daniel is the only one who can try and keep his fractured community together... and catch a killer.”
Featuring the likes of Matthew Lewis, Amanda Redman, Amit Shah and Adam James, the series is set to keep audiences engrossed as twists and turns unfold.

The series is based in the fictional village of Champton, however, many scenes were filmed across the West Midlands.
Some locations include Bridgnorth and Worfield in Shropshire and also Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Leamington Spa and Wolverhampton.
However, author Richard Coles has no intention of sharing the actual location which inspired the series.
He commented: “I don’t want to say where Champton is inspired by, but Bernard’s house is based on two houses.
“It’s half-based on Althorp, where the Spencers live, which was near to where I was in Northamptonshire, and it’s half-based on another house, which I was very excited about.
“This house is ancient and the same family have lived there since the Norman conquest; it’s never been let, sold, or open to the public, and you can’t see it from any road.
"Then they only bl**dy used it for Saltburn! So that ruled out using Drayton House in Northamptonshire.”
Murder Before Evensong is available to watch on Channel 5 from 9pm on October 7.
