Greater Manchester Police has issued an update on the condition of two pedestrians who were hit by a police vehicle earlier this week.
At around 9.08pm on Friday, Septemeber 19 the pedestrians – a woman aged 57 and a 58-year-old man - were taken to hospital after being hit by a police vehicle. Referrals have been made to GMP’s Professional Standards Directorate.
Police have now issued an update on the case, saying the the woman, aged 57, remains in hospital with serious injuries and that the officer driving the police vehicle is supporting the investigation.

Yesterday the force issued an update on it's website. It reads: "Officers responded to a collision involving a police vehicle and two pedestrians on Wigan Road in Leigh last night (Friday 19 September 2025).
"The incident happened at around 9:08pm as the police vehicle was responding to another incident. The pedestrians – a woman and a man - were taken to hospital. The woman, aged 57, remains in hospital with serious injuries while the man, aged 58, has been discharged with minor injuries.
"The scene has been stood down this morning.
"The officer driving the police vehicle is supporting the investigation. In-line with normal procedure, referrals have been made to GMP’s Professional Standards Directorate.
"As part of this investigation, our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking for anyone with information to please come forward. This includes anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell or mobile phone footage from the area.
