Andre Onana shows true colours in Trabzonspor changing room as new footage emerges

Andre Onana has shown his true colours after leaving Manchester United on loan, despite his Trabzonspor debut not ending the way he would've hoped.

The United goalkeeper found himself on the losing side against Fenerbahce on Sunday, as the Turkish Super Lig clash finished 1-0 to the second-placed side courtesy of a Youssef En-Nesyri strike just before half-time. Now, behind-the-scenes footage has surfaced of the shot-stopper voicing his thoughts in the changing room during the interval.

Trabzonspor defender Okay Yokuslu received his marching orders in the 20th minute for a reckless challenge on Fenerbahce forward Kerem Aktürkoğlu, forcing his side to battle for over an hour with 10 men. Despite this, Onanarefused to let the setback dampen his spirits as he was spotted rallying his team-mates during their half-time break.

In the clip shared on social media, the keeper can be heard shouting: "We have to win this game for him," before preventing Yokuslu from saying sorry for his red card, gesturing with his hands and declaring: "No need for sorry."

Numerous supporters responded to the footage, expressing their admiration at Onana's reaction and display of leadership in a squad he has only recently joined. One said: "He's here to win."

Another commented: "He'll find himself there." A third added: "Go to where you're valued." One supporter even suggested: "Manchester United almost ruined him."

Not everyone was impressed by Onana's rousing speech, though, with one frustrated supporter remarking: "All this to lose 1-0." Another commented: "Dude you just got here wtf."

Whilst a third added: "I've been in many changing rooms over the years... this looks to me like he interrupted the captain's team talk. However it went down, this is not a good look for him."

Whilst the majority of fans welcomed Onana's reaction, he couldn't keep Fenerbahce out for long, as he pushed away a strike from former United midfielder Fred just before half-time. However, he failed to clear the ball from danger and reacted sluggishly to the follow-up effort that En-Nesryi scrambled home from close quarters.

Whilst the backline offered little protection for the goal, it proved to be a moment the shot-stopper would prefer to erase from his memory. This blunder cast a shadow over what was an otherwise encouraging display from Onana during the remainder of the match, as he pulled off eight stops against Fenerbahce on his debut.

This disastrous beginning will probably already be forgotten by the 29-year-old as he targets more positive performances during his temporary spell away from United. The goalkeeper was allowed to depart Old Trafford this summer following the club's deadline-day signing of youngster Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, with Ruben Amorim convinced Onana will flourish away from the demands of the Premier League.

Discussing his decision to allow Onana to depart temporarily, the United boss said: "We saw Andre had a very, very good season in Inter. The quality is there, but we are in the club sometimes, in the moment, things are getting harder and harder. And you can be really experienced.

"But in this club, the pressure is sometimes so hard on every detail. Sometimes you need a change. I think we understood that he needed a change. Sometimes it's hard to point why. It's the performance, the moments. The bad luck in some moments was hard on him, and it was hard on us. Our thinking is to have a change in the goalkeepers.

"I wish the best for Andre. He was really good at working, trying to help the players. Sometimes you can have all the quality in the world, but sometimes you need to change the environment to return to your level. That was a feeling, not just from us, but also from Andre."
