Amethi: Akhilesh Yadav, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) national president, conducted a one-day tour of Amethi, where he launched a series of political attacks against defectors and the BJP. His visit, marked by interactions with local residents and strategic social media posts, aimed to solidify his political standing in the region.
Yadav’s social media activity, featuring him engaging with local vendors and sipping coconut water, was interpreted as an effort to connect with the grassroots electorate. He used these platforms to criticize the BJP's economic policies, suggesting they favored large corporations over small businesses.
He also directly accused the BJP of corruption, alleging that “agents are demanding advance commissions from investors, and tenders are being scrapped alongside bureaucratic transfers.”
Yadav further criticized former SP members who had joined the BJP, asserting that their political careers were effectively over due to their “ingratitude, betrayal, and joining a party that is not even loyal to its own.”
In his public statements, Yadav portrayed the BJP as a party focused on “photo-ops” rather than substantive action, emphasizing the need for public security.
Rebel SP MLA Rakesh Pratap Singh responded to Yadav’s criticisms, reaffirming his dedication to “Ram and the nation.” He criticized Yadav’s leadership, stating that he had been ignored during times of crisis and called for “introspection.”
Yadav’s visit was seen as a strategic move to lay the groundwork for upcoming elections, using his interactions with locals and sharp political rhetoric to position himself and his party.
