Mayem (Goa) [India], October 4 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced that their party will not form any alliance with Congress in Goa, accusing them of "deceiving" the people of the state.
Addressing a press conference, the AAP convenor further accused Congress of "supplying" its MLAs to the BJP in "wholesale."
Kejriwal said, "There will be no alliance with the Congress party under any circumstances. Congress deceived the people of Goa the most. Between 2017 and 2019, 13 Congress MLAs joined the BJP, and in 2022, 10 more Congress MLAs joined the BJP. Can they give us an assurance that none of the Congress MLAs will join the BJP after winning? Congress supplies its MLAs to the BJP in wholesale."
Targeting both Congress and BJP, the AAP chief labelled Congress-BJP politics as "rotten" and said that their party won't support or help the BJP form a government in Goa.
He emphasised the need for a new system where the people of Goa have control over their resources and decide their fate.
"We cannot be a part of helping the BJP to create its government in Goa. There will be no any kind of alliance with Congress. Congress-BJP is a system of rotten politics. We have to bring a new system where people of Goa will decide what will happen with their resources," Kejriwal said.
Arvind Kejriwal is on a three-day visit to Goa, which started on October 3. AAP's Goa in-charge and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi was also present with him.
Earlier on Friday, Kejriwal said that the state has been suffocated under 13 years of corruption and goondaraj by the BJP-Congress alliance government.
In a post on X, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote, "BJP-Congress alliance is running government for 13 years in Goa. During these 13 years, Goa has witnessed massive illegal construction, illegal mining, insane amount of corruption, violence, state sponsored gundaraj, deteriorating law and order, high crime rate, potholed roads, crimes against women, frequent power cuts, massive unemployment, sharp decline in tourism and an assault on Goan culture."
The next Goa legislative assembly election is expected to be held in February 2027. (ANI)
